Art Therapy Exercise #12

The goal of this exercise is to explore things the patient finds soothing and encourage abstract thinking.

  • Discuss the substance or items coming out of the pot and their significance to the patient
  • Talk about other things that produce the same feelings
  • Discuss ways the items in the picture can help the patient advance in their therapy or goals

Instructions

Have the patient draw a tea or coffee pot pouring a substance or concept of their choosing into a cup. What is coming out of the pot should be something that soothes them, makes them feel good, or helps them relax.
